Effective Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020: The Recycling Center is open during normal hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm). The Big Blue Bins are back out at the Farmer's Market (1824 Patrick Drive) and Walton Fire Protection District (12600 Towne Center Drive) at this time. We will expand to other locations in the near future. The Spring Cleanup has been cancelled. If you have any questions, please contact Megan Clere at or 859-334-3151.

Boone County's Solid Waste Department oversees the County's recycling, litter, and illegal dumps. Solid Waste coordinates roadside litter cleanups and community cleanups, as well as prosecuting those who dump their garbage illegally. Additionally, we strive to educate people of all ages on environmental issues, proper disposal of waste, and how to recycle our trash. To learn more about Solid Waste and our citizen involvement, please contact Megan Clere or Mike Wilson.

Our mission is to conserve resources, protect public health and safety, and educate the community. This is made possible by our wonderful partners - public agencies, industries, businesses, schools, and - most importantly - YOU.
