Animal Care & Control
Compassionate, Human Animal Care & Support
Building A Pawsitive Future
BCAC is excited to be nearing completion of its new animal shelter. This modern facility will provide the space the team needs – and our residents deserve – to deliver outstanding animal care and control services.

Boone County Animal Care & Control (BCAC) receives more than 3,000 animals each year. Due to the team at BCAC, every intake is more than just an animal or number – they are treated as a part of someone’s family. Our goal is to provide humane and compassionate services for every animal in our care, and ultimately reunite them with their family, or find a new family to welcome them into their home.
Our services at BCAC include:
- Animal control
- Adoption services
- Foster programs
- Community outreach and education
- Pet licensing
- Pet food bank
- Owner relinquishments
- Spay and neuter services
- Community cat programs (TNR)
- Stray holding
- Cruelty investigations
- In-house medical care
