Boone County Fiscal Court Creates Elder Abuse Prevention Task Force


A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE BOONE COUNTY FISCAL COURT APPROVING THE FORMATION OF THE BOONE COUNTY ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION TASK FORCE.  

WHEREAS, instances of fraud, financial crimes and cyber-crimes targeting senior citizens have become commonplace in our society; and
WHEREAS, the Boone County Fiscal Court desires to develop strategies, tactics and resources to prevent or address crimes targeted at senior citizens through the development of education and outreach activities; and
WHEREAS,  the Boone County Fiscal Court is authorized by KRS 67.083 to Cooperate with other units of government and private agencies for the provision of public services, including, but not limited to, training, educational services, and cooperative extension service programs.    

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE FISCAL COURT, COUNTY OF BOONE, COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY:

Section I

 

That the Boone County Fiscal Court does hereby create the Boone Elder Abuse Prevention Task Force.
The Boone County Elder Abuse Prevention Task Force shall have a charge to develop strategies, tactics, programs and resources to promote education and outreach activities that advocate for the prevention of fraud, financial crimes and cyber crimes directed at senior citizens in Boone County, Kentucky, as well as, provide support for those senior citizens who have fallen victim to such crimes.

Section II

The composition of the Boone County Elder Abuse Prevention Task Force shall be:

  1. Up to two (2) County Commissioners appointed by the Judge/Executive and approved by the Boone County Fiscal Court.
  2. Three (3) at-large members appointed by the Judge/Executive and approved by the Boone County Fiscal Court.
  3. Boone County Sheriff (or designee)
  4. Boone County Commonwealth Attorney (or designee)
  5. Additional ex-officio non-voting members may be added by majority vote of the Task Force with approval of the Judge/Executive. 

Section III 

Upon its creation and the appointment of all members, and within six (6) months, the Boone County Elder Abuse Prevention Task Force shall draft a proposed plan be presented to the County Judge/Executive and approved by the Boone County Fiscal Court. 

Section V

 That this Resolution is hereby approved and adopted in Open Session of the Boone County Fiscal Court this 26th day of April, 2022.
