Dr. Randy Poe Recognized for his Education Career

To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come:

Whereas, 

Dr. Randy Poe, a distinguished educator and administrator, began his academic pursuits by earning a Bachelor of Science from Northern Kentucky University in 1983 and furthered his education receiving a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Northern Kentucky University in 1985 and a Doctor of Education from Northern Kentucky University in May 2013; and

Whereas,

Dr. Poe began his career with the Boone County School District in 1983, and has served in a number of roles which include: teacher at Boone County High School, Assistant Principal and Principal at Conner Middle School, Executive Director of Technology, Research and Development Services, Assistant Superintendent of Management Support Services and Deputy Superintendent of the School District; and

Whereas, 

Dr. Randy Poe was named Superintendent of the Boone County School District in July, 2008, and will continue to serve the community in that capacity until his retirement on June 30, 2020; and

Whereas, 

Dr. Poe has shared his leadership, time and talents with professionals on the local, state and national levels serving on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS) and as a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky and American Association of School Administrators, the Local Superintendent Advisory Council for the Kentucky Commissioner of Education and as a Rotarian in the Florence Rotary Club; and

Whereas, 

Dr. Poe has been recognized numerous times for his contributions to the profession and the community including the following honors:  Sixth District Middle School Principal of the Year in 1998, Outstanding Young Leader of Boone County by the Boone County Jaycees in 1999, One to One Literacy award in 2011 by the Northern Kentucky Education Council, Outstanding NKU Alumnus of the College of Education and Human Services in 2012, KASA Superintendent of the Year in 2013, F.L. Dupree Award and the NKYEX Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, NKY Chamber of Commerce Community Award in 2018 and the NKYEC Spirit of the Region Award in 2019; and

Whereas, 

Dr. Randy Poe has earned the admiration and respect of his students, colleagues, and the members of the Boone County community for his commitment, collegiality, enthusiasm, professionalism, compassion, hard work and dedication to the students in his care.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Gary W. Moore, Boone County Judge/Executive do hereby declare Tuesday June 30th, 2020, as:
