National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.  Unfortunately, drug abusers, who often times happen to be family members, have stolen, used, and at times, overdosed from unused medications left in medicine cabinets unbeknownst to the homeowner.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a resource for getting those drugs out of the house and away from the possibility of being abused.  Sheriff Michael A. Helmig will have three collection points open in Boone County; The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Campus located at 3,000 Conrad Lane in Burlington, the Union City Building located at 1843 Mount Zion Road in Union, Kentucky and the Walton City Building located at 40 North Main Street in Walton, Kentucky. The Union & Walton sites will provide drive-up service.
