The Boone County Attorney’s Office assists businesses and private individuals of Boone County with the collection of cold or bad checks. Upon receipt of a copy of the check in question and the name and address of the individual who wrote the check, the Boone County Attorney’s Office sends a letter requesting payment in full. If the check is not paid in full within ten days, a criminal complaint can be issued. If the individual cannot be served by summons, an arrest warrant may be issued. The Boone County Attorney’s Office will see that the criminal action is prosecuted to its proper conclusion.
