Giving Green to Keep Boone County Clean
The Boone County Trash for Cash Program runs from April 1st through September 30th each year. Boone County Solid Waste donates $200 to each county centerline-road (meaning both sides) mile the organization cleaned, with a maximum of 5 miles. Last year in 2020, our partner non-profit organizations picked up 328 miles of county roads and removed more than 6.58 tons of trash - that's over 13,000 pounds of garbage!
We will be accepting applications starting March 1st and ending August 31st. These applications will be reviewed and approved by Boone County Solid Waste. Please remember that this program is first come, first serve. The organization that is able to apply must be a federally-recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization and have your organization's W-9 ready to send. If you are not a 501(c)3, you can apply to be one here: https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/application-for-recognition-of-exemption.
