River Sweep

Ohio River Sweep

Mini River Sweeps will continue May 1st - October 31st, 2021!

We are looking for volunteers like YOU! Beginning in 1989, the Ohio River Sweep is an annual cleanup event that extends over the entire length of the Ohio River. There are six states that border the Ohio River that, each year, gather volunteers to work together on a huge project: litter removal of the river and its tributaries. This event is a fun, kid-friendly event! Come join us and make a positive impact in our community.

Boone County Solid Waste hosts five different locations around the county. Each site offers the supplies you will need during cleanup (gloves, grabbers, trash bags, water, etc.) and free t-shirts and goodies.
Please contact Megan at 859-334-3151 or mclere@boonecountyky.org if you have any questions.

Want to do more for the Ohio River? Volunteer in another community! Check out the list here.
