Through this hands-on course, participants will learn the benefits of recycling and composting. We will tour the Boone County Recycling Center and hear from experts in our local recycling businesses and markets. After the course, Master Recyclers will help make a change in their own community!

This course will occur every Thursday from July 16th to August 13th, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Participants may only miss one day to be considered for the Master Recycler certification.


Each week, we will meet at the Boone County Public Works Office (5645 Idlewild Road, Burlington, KY 41005) and get started at 6:00pm. We allow two hours each week, but may not meet the full two hours. Below is the general topics we will discuss each week. Every Thursday, each participate will be given the presentations via Google Drive.

littering, recycling benefits, and annual cleanups

Thursday, July 23rd, 2020: Big Blue Bin program, what can and cannot be recycled, Recycling Center tour, and MRF's

Thursday, July 30th, 2020: businesses and markets and alternative recycling markets

Thursday, August 6th, 2020: three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, composting, and how to perform a waste audit at home, business, or organization

Thursday, August 13th, 2020: starting your own recycling program, wrap-up, and celebration
