"The mission of Boone County Public Works is to effectively maintain and develop public infrastructure within Un-Incorporated Boone County with the utmost of efficiency. We provide essential services in the areas of street and storm sewer maintenance, assurance of safe development, code enforcement, County fleet management, and management of public spaces. We at Public Works work to ensure that our County grows and develops to enhance the quality of life for our residents, businesses and visitors in the most practical, useful, economical, safe, and beneficial way."


In an effort to minimize exposure and reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Department of Public Works has implemented a plan to provide only essential and emergency services.  All reports to Public Works will be evaluated; but emergency responses will typically be limited to only the following instances:

  • Missing Stop sign or other roadway warning signs;
  • Malfunctioning traffic light;
  • Pothole or road failure causing immediate vehicle damage or motorist avoidance;
  • Trees or other debris blocking roadway;
  • Continual standing water in the roadway (not from flash flood).
