Boone County Commercial Building Inspection Fee Schedules
Fees for new construction and additions are based upon the value of the construction performed or the minimum valuations as determined by the attached Minimum Valuation Table whichever is greater.
Fees applied for base construction do not cover HVAC, Plumbing, Electric, and specialized systems listed under the attached schedule titled, Permit fees for specialized system reviews.

Example:
Type of Construction: IIB Use Group: A-2
Square Footage: 10,000 Actual cost of construction: $999,000
Step 1: Given the type of construction and use group a minimum square foot valuation of $86.00 a square foot is derived from the Minimum Valuation Chart.
Step 2: The minimum valuation of the project is determined by multiplying the square footage of the structure by the cost factor found in step one. 10,000 Sq. Ft. X $86.00= $860,000
Step 3: The minimum valuation found in Step 2 is now compared to the actual cost of construction to determine which is greater.
Actual cost of Construction $999,000>$860,000 Calculated Minimum Valuation
Step 4: Use the determined greater valuation in this case the actual cost of construction to determine the permit fee per the Commercial Building Permit Fee Schedule. The fee is determined to be $1,500.

FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM REVIEW FEE
0 to 20,000 square feet shall be $150; over 20,000 square feet shall be $150 plus $25 for each additional 10,000 square feet in excess of 20,000 square feet.
HVAC PLAN REVIEW
All HVAC plans shall be submitted separately to this Department and must be submitted by the Kentucky Master HVAC Contractor per KRS. HVAC fees are shown on the HVAC application form.
STANDPIPE PLAN REVIEW FEE
$150 (combination standpipe and riser plans will be reviewed under automatic sprinkler review fee schedule).
CARBON DIOXIDE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM REVIEW FEE
1 to 200 pounds of agent shall be $150; over 200 pounds of agent shall be $150 plus 10 cents per pound in excess of 200 pounds.
CLEAN AGENT SUPPRESSION SYSTEM REVIEW FEE
Up to 35 pounds of agent shall be $150; over 35 pounds shall be $150 plus 20 cents per pound over 35 pounds.
FOAM SUPPRESSION SYSTEM REVIEW FEE
$1.00 per gallon of foam concentrate. The fee for review of plans shall not be less than $150 nor more than $1,500.
COMMERCIAL RANGE HOOD REVIEW FEE
$150 per hood.
DRY CHEMICAL SYSTEMS REVIEW FEE (EXCEPT RANGE HOODS)
1 to 30 pounds of agent shall be $150; over 30 pounds of agent shall be $150 plus 35 cents per pound in excess of 30 pounds.
Signage
Signage over 32 square feet, $150.00 per sign
Signage under 32 square feet $30.00
Temporary Structures
Installation of temporary structures $150.00 per structure
Warehouse Racking
Fee based upon the Commercial Building Permit Fee Schedule.
