On Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Detective Coy Cox of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division will be meeting with those customers of Details Auto Sales who have yet to receive the paperwork necessary to obtain their license plates. The meeting will be held at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office located at 3000 Conrad Lane in Burlington, Kentucky.
Detective Cox will be accompanied by representatives from the finance companies, county clerk’s office, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Kentucky Motor Vehicle Commission, and title holders.
Their intent is to provide the aforementioned paperwork and facilitate the acquisition of license plates. For those customers whose titles were unobtainable Cox, et al, hope to provide viable solutions. Since representatives from both state agencies will be on hand customers from both the Kentucky and Ohio locations are encouraged to attend and bring with them all the paperwork they have pertaining to their transactions.
Cox hopes the majority of 65 identified victims will attend the meeting so as to accommodate them en masse as he did in February of 2006 with the Hebron Auto Sales collapse. This case is nearly identical to the Hebron Auto Sales mess with the exception that the owners (of Details), Francis & Dawn Divita, were charged criminally for their parts. The Divitas refuse to cooperate with authorities and aid in the process of locating the necessary paperwork.
