On Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at approximately 4:15 a.m. a Larue County, Kentucky escapee was located at the southbound rest area in Florence, Kentucky.
Deputy Jeff Ruber, following up on an attempt to locate (A.T.L.) from Larue County, was checking the rest area when he found their (Larue County Jail) stolen Ford Crown Victoria backed in to a parking space. The escapee, George Gaunt III, 21 from Ludlow, Kentucky was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Boone County Detention Center charged with Escape 2nd degree and Receiving stolen property.
Larue County is situated in the Pennyrile region of Central Kentucky due south of Jefferson County.
