On Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at approximately 7:10 p.m. a Hazelton, Pennsylvania truck driver was arrested after he told sheriff’s deputies he was robbed at gunpoint in Verona, Kentucky by a man posing to be a police officer.
Javier Londono, 26 of the 300 block of Diamond Avenue in Hazelton, Pennsylvania told Deputy Kris Weber he was robbed of $500 while in his semi parked on the exit ramp in Verona. Londono said a man pulled up and showed him a badge, then robbed him at gunpoint. Londono apparently didn’t rehearse well enough and every time Weber pressed for specifics Londono’s story changed until finally he admitted he made the whole story up and he, in fact, had lost the money gambling at a truck stop.
Weber charged Londono with Falsely reporting an incident and lodged him in the Boone County Detention Center where he remains in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Falsely reporting an incident is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or a $500 fine. Londono drives for Arvi Transportation out of Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania.
