On Thursday, November 12, 2009 at approximately 11:00 p.m. a Burlington, Kentucky couple was arrested for a series of sexual molestations of a six (6) year old girl over the last four (4) to six (6) weeks in their home.
When the victim arrived home after school and found her mother wasn’t home yet she went to a neighbor’s apartment. There she told them about the abuse and how she didn’t want to go home. The neighbor immediately notified authorities. Detective Tracy Watson led the investigation, at first interviewing the victim and then locating the perpetrators.
The victim’s mother, Trisha Amara, 30 and her live-in boyfriend, Fransico Vazquez, 26 were both arrested and lodged in the Boone County Detention Center. Amara is charged with Complicity to Sodomy 1st degree and Sexual abuse 1st degree. Vazquez (also uses Vasquez) is charged with Sodomy 1st degree and Sexual abuse 1st degree. Bond has not yet been set for the two.
Updated information: On Tuesday, November 17, 2009 the Boone County Grand Jury indicted Amara & Vazquez on the original (aforementioned) charges and added the following charges. Vazquez – Intimidating a participant in the legal process. Amara – Intimidating a participant in the legal process and Human Trafficking.
Intimidating a participant is a Class D felony punishable by 1 – 5 years in the state penitentiary. Human trafficking is a Class B felony punishable by 10 – 20 years in the state penitentiary.
Both are being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
