On Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at approximately 3:05 a southbound Norfolk Southern railroad train collided with a tractor trailer semi on Shoreland Drive near where it intersects with U.S.–25 (Dixie Highway) in Richwood, Kentucky.
Babic Smail, 40 of Dubuque, Iowa was driving the semi on Shoreland Drive for Zis Transport out of Independence, Kentucky hauling muffin batter and had just crossed over the R.R. tracks when he stopped near the intersection of Dixie Highway, leaving the rear part of the semi trailer blocking the tracks. The train engine ripped the rear of the trailer off. There are no reported injuries as of this writing.
