The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has recently enrolled in an enhanced communication platform used to notify subscribers of current situations via emails and/or cell phone texts. Nixle.com is a community information service that enables us to blast information – including Amber Alerts, advisories, community and traffic information – directly to residents.
Nixle’s Community Wire is the first standardized, secure, and certified communication platform available for us to communicate important, neighborhood-level information to the residents of Boone County. Nixle's Community Wire is available at no cost and uses the same compelling model as social applications, such as Twitter and Facebook, while adding the security that is critical to ensure information received by users is trusted and accurate. Subscribers receive all information immediately by text message, email and web.
Sheriff Michael A. Helmig urges everyone who wants to be in the know concerning the goings on of the Sheriff’s Department and your community to subscribe to Nixle.com. Subscribers choose what type of alerts they want to receive and can opt to turn them off at specified times for convenience.
