On Thursday, July 23, 2009 at approximately 1:00 a.m. a Hebron, Kentucky man and his nephew were arrested for stealing spools of copper wire from a construction site at I–275 and KY–237 in Hebron.
Deputy Jerome Huff was patrolling the area when he saw a red pickup truck coming out of the construction site. Huff stopped the truck and, upon approach, located four (4) large spools of copper wire and two (2) smaller spools in the bed of the vehicle. The driver, Vernon Henson, 32 of Hebron was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking (over $500), a Class D felony punishable by 1 5 years in the state penitentiary. Henson was lodged in the Boone County Detention Center where he remains in lieu of a $2,500 bond. Henson’s 15 year old nephew, a passenger in the truck, was detained and lodged at the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center in Newport, Kentucky, also charged with the theft.
