On Friday, June 19, 2009 at approximately 6:20 a.m. Boone County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Cooper High School teacher and track coach for having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old student.
Jason Collins–Baker, 31 of the 3,600 block of Evensong Drive in Union, Kentucky was charged with two (2) counts of Sexual Abuse 1st degree after investigators determined he had been involved with a 17 year old, 2009 graduate of Cooper High School throughout the school year. Sexual Abuse 1st degree is a Class D felony punishable by 1 – 5 years in the state penitentiary.
Investigators determined the two would meet at Collins–Baker’s Union home and that there was no inappropriate behavior on school grounds other than their discreet communications. Collins–Baker was lodged in the Boone County Detention Center and as of this writing bond had not been set for him.
