On Thursday, June 04, 2009 at approximately 12:40 a.m. a single vehicle collision on Petersburg Road (KY–20) in Petersburg, Kentucky claimed the life of the driver of the car and sent the passenger to the hospital.
Gregory Crowe Jr., 35 of Ludlow, Kentucky was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound in the 4800 block of Petersburg Road when he lost control of the car and struck a utility pole, shearing it and causing the car to roll over before coming to a rest. Crowe was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Ronald Botkins, 36 of Greendale, Indiana, was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital (Florence) by Petersburg EMS where he was treated and released.
The collision is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Unit. No preliminary indicators were available at the time of this release.
