On Friday, May 22, 2009 a Florence, Kentucky businesswoman had her credit cards stolen by a couple who went on to use them at area stores where the suspects’ images were captured by surveillance equipment. Sheriff’s investigators are urging anyone with information as to the identities of the suspects to call the Sheriff’s Department at (859) 334–2175 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352–3040.
Lenora Foote of Commonwealth Dental in Florence said two African American women came in to their office under the guise of making an appointment for their grandmother, Catherine Barrett. One of the women was wearing hospital scrubs and did the talking while the other meandered around the office, at one point out–of–sight from Foote. Foote discovered the cards missing later that evening and when she checked with the issuing banks found they had been used at Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target, Radio Shack (all in Florence) and Target in Lexington, Kentucky.
Investigators obtained surveillance photos and have since learned the group is suspected of using stolen cards in Knoxville, Tennessee and Columbus, Ohio.
