On Friday, January 30, 2009 at approximately 7:00 a.m. a single vehicle, roll–over accident on eastbound I–275 at the 3.7 mile marker sent the driver of a small SUV to the University Hospital via Air Care.
Joshua Azevedo, 28 of Florence, Kentucky was east on I–275 in the left lane – which was snow covered – driving a 1998 Toyota CRV when he lost control going into the median and rolling over. Azevedo was not wearing a seat belt and sustained head injuries, condition unknown. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Both sides of I–275 were shut down for approximately 30 minutes while Air Care used it as a landing zone. Motorists are reminded to exercise due caution on the roadways as there are still areas of icy sections that create havoc for the unsuspecting driver.
