On Thursday, January 22, 2009 at approximately 11:05 a.m. a single vehicle, rollover accident on northbound I-71 near the Verona, Kentucky exit (72mm) sent the driver to the hospital via Air Care with reported life-threatening injuries.
Frederick Rudy, 51 of Williamstown, Kentucky was driving a Pepsi Cola owned van north on I 71 when he left the highway, went over an embankment, and rolled it. Rudy, the only occupant who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio via Air Care.
The northbound lanes were shut down for approximately 30 minutes while being used as a landing zone for Air Care. The accident is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
