What to know before you go


Several of Boone County’s rural treasures invite you to visit them for this year's123 farm tour, rain or shine. This self-guided tour of some of the county’s finest working and historic farms will offer visitors a chance to learn more about agriculture in Boone County. Agriculture is a vital part of Boone County and there isn’t a better to learn about where your food and fibre is produced than to visit with local farmers.

Plan ahead

   Check out the Farms page to decide which farms to see

• No Admission CHARGE

   There is no admission price for the Farm Tour but there may be some fees for farm activities.

• Bring Cash

   To purchase food or other items at the farms. Many farms do not accept credit/debit cards.

• Dress for a farm visit

   Wear sturdy, all-weather clothing and shoes that can get dirty, the tour continues rain or shine.

• Follow farmers’ instructions

   And be respectful of the animals.

• Wash your hands

   After handling animals.

• DO NOT bring pets

   This can frighten farm animals and may be dangerous. These are working farms with animals - please be   
   respectful
.                

 • Facilities

   Most farms will have handicapped restrooms available.

• Have fun

   Bring a sense of adventure and don’t forget your camera!

• Fill out a survey, be counted

   Future farm tours depend on this information, ask a volunteer about the survey.
