Boone County's River Sweep was awesome this year!
Over 135 amazing volunteers spent their Saturday morning June 17th cleaning up enormous amounts of trash from the riverbanks of the Ohio River in Rabbit Hash, Petersburg Boat Dock, Split Rock Conservation Park and Big Bone Boat Dock. These volunteers filled four 30-yard dumpsters and four dump-trucks with debris as well as removing 36 tires and five 55-gallon drums!
Congratulations, thanks and lots of love go out to River Sweep
Coordinators Joyce Engleman who hosted the Big Bone site, Mark Jacobs at the Split Rock site, and Jack Sargent, who hosted the Petersburg site. We had delightful lunch celebrations after the event with door prizes and discussions. One group found a purse with a drivers license and credit cards in it. Cleaning up the mess was hard work but well worth the effort.
Special thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Boy Scout Troop # 239.

Thank You!
A great big thank you to the Boone County Public Works Department, who worked just as hard as the volunteers ... And that's a lot of hard work!

This tuff guy was found amongst the garbage on the riverbank.
Of course, special thanks to the volunteers! Without you, we could not
have even had an event. It was because of your time and hard labor that we were able to make this even a success. You had an amazing impact on Boone County and our Ohio River. It makes us happy that so many of our neighbors are dedicated to keeping our county clean. It was awesome working with all of you!
Many people were involved ?behind the scenes? of this event.

There are many more people to thank who made a big difference because of their support of this event. Too many to name, but you know who you are! You are genuinely appreciated.
