The Eco-Topic Essay Contest is Boone County Solid Waste’s first foray into environmental writing scholarship and we are ecstatic to announce our very talented winners!

Each first prize winner will receive a laptop computer courtesy of Apex Technology Solutions, Inc. Each second prize winner will be awarded a $100.00 check and each third prize winner will receive a $50.00 check, both of which are made possible by a donation from Bavarian Waste Services. All of the winners will be recognized by Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore and given their prizes at the Fiscal Court Meeting on March 11. The meeting will be videotaped and air on public-access television and DVD copies of the event will be available to all who want them.
The Eco-Topic Essay Contest invited all Boone County Students, Kindergarten through twelfth grade, to craft essays that focus on the recycling of electronics.
We would like to sincerely thank the Boone County Board of Education and to the Walton-Verona Board of Education and all school principals, teachers, and parents for making the first year of this contest so awesome! Special thanks go to all of the students who wrote essays – The judges were very impressed!
