the winners of the 2007-2008 "Quit the Littering!"
Coloring Calendar Contest!
The contest, which was open to all elementary-age children in Boone County, asks the youngest among us to use their creativity in spreading the message that they are sick of litter. We received over 510 entries from Erpenbeck Elementary, Florence Elementary, Mann Elementary, New Haven Elementary, Ockerman Elementary, Stephens Elementary, Walton-Verona Elementary, Yealey Elementary, and Zion Christian Academy, as well as from home-schooled students. This has been our biggest year ever and we´d like to sincerely thank all school principals, teachers, and parents for making it so awesome!
We have to say thank you to every student who
entered the contest. You rule!
All of the winners will be recognized at the Fiscal Court meeting on December 18 which will be videotaped and air on public-access television as well as being featured in Boone County publications!
For the contest, students were given a choice of prompts and entries from each grade were chosen as winners. Grand Prize winners will have their artwork featured in a 2008 calendar that will be distributed throughout Boone County. Plus, they get award certificates, goodie bags and gift cards.

We have again received a huge amount of imaginative images this year so we have again awarded runner-up prizes! Runner-up winners will be given goodie bags and have their artwork featured on posters hung throughout Boone County.

As always, the creativity of Boone County kids is not limited to artistic talent–several submitted catchy slogans. Slogan winners will also be featured in the 2008 calendar and receive the same gifts as Grand Prize Winners.
