Applications

For families with dependents, the head or co-head of the household must be living or working or attending school full time in Boone County to be eligible. If you are not a resident of Boone County, you must have been employed in Boone County prior to applying.

Individuals applying with no dependents must currently be receiving SSD or SSI, or be age 50 or over. Individuals who are pregnant, with no other dependents, may also apply, if they are 18 years old. All other single categories are closed at this time.

You will be required to fill out an pre-application and a short interview will be conducted. We suggest you do not bring children with you.

We will be requesting and reviewing the criminal record report of each adult in the household.  If there is any drug or drug related activity, violent criminal activity or three (3) alcohol related charges, the application will be denied.

Currently our waiting list is approximately 6-8 months. At the time of voucher issuance, a group session must be attended by an adult family member

HOUSING ASSISTANCE WILL BE DENIED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

• Family evicted from Public Housing within the past 5 years;
• Family currently owes money to any housing agency in connection with the Section 8 or public housing assistance program;
• Family has engaged in or threatened abusive or violent behavior toward housing authority personnel;
• Family has engaged in drug related activities within the past 5 years. Family has engaged in violent criminal activity within the past 5 years;
• Family has engaged in alcohol abuse as demonstrated by 3 alcohol related charges or incidents within 5 years or eviction for alcohol abuse;
• Outstanding warrant or failure to appear charges;
• Registered as a life time sex offender;
• Felony conviction.
