This morning at approximately 5:00 a.m. a passing motorists noticed a car upside down in a creek along the 15,000 block of US–42 in Verona, Kentucky. The car was full of water and the driver’s door was ajar. – 5/6/2013

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, located in Northern Kentucky, serves a broad and diverse population of over 110,000 residents across 256 square miles. Boone County borders Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and the Ohio River. Boone County serves as a conduit for three (3) major US Interstate systems (I–71, I–75, and I–275). The closest major city, Cincinnati, OH, is only a fifteen (15) minute drive from the borders of Boone County. The above demographics also represent the ability of the regional population to easily traverse local and state boundaries. The combined populations of the three Northern Kentucky Counties (Boone, Campbell, and Kenton Counties) and Hamilton County, OH (Cincinnati) serve a population of over one million people.

Sheriff Michael A. Helmig is the 64th Sheriff of Boone County, a constitutionally elected office that dates back to 1799. Sheriff Michael A. Helmig is responsible for a wide variety of duties, including, but not limited to full–time law enforcement services, property tax collection, election duties, and service to the Boone County Civil and Criminal Courts.
