GUNPOWDER NATURE PARK
AT SPERTI WOODS
Gunpowder Nature Park is 122-acres of hiking opportunities, nature study and the outdoor experience of steep topography on the upgraded 1800’s logging trail. Located at the end of Sperti Lane off Hanover Boulevard in Burlington , the park’s 
1.25 mile trail travels from an elevation of 830 feet to 620 feet and ends very near Gunpowder Creek at a stone seating area. Surrounding hills contain deciduous woods and lower elevations along the creek contain floodplain forest and scrubby vegetation. A stand of mature oaks on the northern hillside is one of the best remaining undisturbed areas of woodland in the region. Gunpowder Creek has created geologic history as its journey through the valley has carved expositions of limestone, shale and clay at several locations. The park entrance area provides a picnic shelter, restrooms, playground and parking.
