Judge-Executive Gary W. Moore

In 1998, Gary W. Moore was elected Judge-Executive for Boone County, the highest elected office in county government. Boone County is the fourth largest and the fastest growing county in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Judge Moore’s election followed a distinguished career in private business and public service.

Gary grew up in Pendleton County, where his father served as Sheriff. Years of watching his father enforce the law and serve the needs of the County citizens instilled in him a belief in public service and community involvement.

Judge Moore currently serves on the executive committee of the Kentucky County Judges Association. He was elected as a board member of the National Association of Regional Councils and is past President of the OKI Regional Council of Governments which serves the eight county Greater Cincinnati regions. Judge Moore is also a board member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Leadership Kentucky, Northern Kentucky University Foundation, St. Luke Hospital Foundation and the Dan Beard Council of Boy Scouts. He has served as President of the Kentucky Jaycees and on the Board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and has provided leadership and service to many community groups, including Catholic Social Services and Maplewood Children’s Home.

Gary’s wife, Joy, a former special education teacher, graduated from Chase College of Law and is an elected Judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Today, Gary and Joy live in the Pleasant Valley area of Boone County. Their two children, Scott and Brandi and their spouses and two granddaughters also reside in Boone County. Judge Moore and his family are members of Florence Baptist Church.
