Here’s what’s been happening in Your Boone County. This issue includes:

• A Fiscal Court Caucus Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 30, to review and discuss the proposed FY2025 budget.
• Five voting members have been appointed to the Boone County Transportation Improvement District (TID).
• Fiscal Court votes to approve limited alcohol sales in certain Boone County parks.
• Adoptable animals are ready to find their furever homes.

Budget Process Begins
A special meeting of the Boone County Fiscal Court will take place on Tuesday, April 30 at 1 p.m. The Judge/Executive and county leadership will present the proposed FY2025 budget, and answer questions from the Fiscal Court. This meeting is open to the public, and residents will have the opportunity to address the Court for 30 minutes at the start of the meeting.

The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and share comments specific to the budget at a public hearing on Tuesday, May 21. The budget will be available for review on the County’s website on Wednesday, May 1.

NKY Works Initiative Focus on Workforce Development
On Thursday, April 25, NKY Works was officially unveiled as a regional effort between Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties and the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD). This initiative will focus on helping businesses in the area attract and retain top talent.

 Boone County Fiscal Court Appoints Members to Transportation Improvement District
The Boone County Fiscal Court voted at its Tuesday, April 23 meeting to approve the appointments of the following individuals to the Boone County Transportation Improvement District (TID):

• David Wallace, Chairman and CEO, Heritage Bank
• John Toebben, President, Toebben Builders
• Matthew Dedden, President, Dedden Excavating, Inc.
• William (Larry) Brown, Former City of Florence Council Member
• Laura Tenfelde, P.E., Director of Infrastructure Engineering, Planning & Development Services

 Fiscal Court Approves Limited Alcohol Sales at Certain County Parks
At the Tuesday, April 23 Fiscal Court meeting, officials voted to approve a new ordinance that will allow the limited sale of alcohol during special events at select Boone County parks. It’s important to keep in mind that specific criteria must to be met to allow for alcohol sales, including (but not limited to):

• A special permit must be completed and approved by the County Administrator
• Vendors must be licensed, including valid occupational and liquor licenses.
• Alcohol sales can only take place in certain parks (England-Idlewild, Boone Woods and Central Park) during park hours.
• Alcohol sales and consumption must take place within designated areas.
• Licensed vendors must have a $1 million liability insurance policy.
• Permitted events must be open to the general public.
• Organizers are responsible for providing special duty pay to law enforcement officers during the event.

Alcohol sale, possession and consumption remains prohibited in all parks outside of these specific criteria.
